Trauma
Trauma comes in many forms: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, accidents, war are just some that are well known. But did you also know that gaslighting, living with an addiction (or with someone who has an addiction), and being cheated on can also have devastating effects to your sense of who you are?
The good news is that you can recover in a way that helps you become stronger, wiser, and more resilient than you were before. Working with people who’ve experienced trauma is one of my passions and is a specialty of mind. I’m trained in a number of styles such as EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to help you heal from the experiences of your past, so you can live a free and unencumbered present.

Relationships
Relationships can be lovely, warm spaces where we connect with people in order to be more than we are alone. They can also be some of the most difficult and even damaging spaces to be in. If you’re having issues with a partner, a member of your family, your entire family, an ex, co-workers, or even if people who are no longer part of your life are having a damaging effect on you, I can help you to turn these relationships around, or say farewell.

EMDR
EMDR, or Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, is an evidenced-based therapy that can help you transform the negative beliefs, that leave you mired in negative emotions and thoughts, into more adaptive positive beliefs that can free you to live the way you’ve always wanted.
I use EMDR to help people put their traumatic past in their rearview mirror and relieve their recurring negative thinking patterns so they can recover from substance use, depression, anxiety, grief, and so much more.
See EMDRIA for more information on the nuts and bolts of how it works.

Sex Therapy
A healthy and satisfying sex life can be an important part of our emotional and physical well-being. A member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, I can work to help you understand and express your needs in a way that’s edifying to both you and your partner(s).

Affair Recovery
For many people, the emotional piece to an extramarital, or extra-relationship affair can feel far more damaging than the physical act. Exploring what the affair means to you and your significant other(s) is an essential component to repairing your relationship. I help people to explore and heal in a sensitive, yet authentic manner, so they can decide for themselves how they need to move forward.
-
Substance Abuse
No one simply decides, “I’m going to become addicted to a substance.” It’s a complicated dance we begin, often in an effort to gain relief from unwanted emotions and/or a traumatic past. I can help you to explore the issues that first led you to experiment and help you overcome those hurdles that are currently keeping you from feeling free.
-
Suicidal Ideation
Suicidal thoughts and attempts are almost always a response to something in our life that we’d like to change, but haven’t been able to. That’s good news, because it means if you’re having thoughts around wishing you were dead or ending your life, there is a pathway to feeling better.
I work with people who are having suicidal thoughts and attempts to help them figure out how to make positive changes in their life, so that suicide no longer seems like the best option for them.
-
Depression
Sadness is a naturally occurring side effect of life that can creep up from time to time. But when that sadness stays with us most of the day, results in us no longer being interested in things that brought us joy, having insomnia (or sleeping too much), sapping us of energy, or having recurring feelings of worthlessness, shame, or guilt, then seeing someone trained in mental health can often be the best decision you’ll make for your personal well-being.
I help people to uncover the source(s) of their depressive thoughts and work to assist them in thinking, feeling, and doing the things that can pull them out of their darkness and into the light.
-
Anxiety
We are wired to be anxious. Historically, it’s the people who secured their homes against wild animals, took appropriate steps to save food and other resources, and kept one eye out for danger who were able to survive long enough to pass their genes on to the next generation. But too much of a helpful emotion can leave us unable to enjoy the life we deserve to live.
I work with people to help them calm their nervous systems using scientifically-proven and natural techniques so they can manage their anxiety to work for them and not against them.
